Please Join Us for a Bronx Community Gathering!
Thursday, October 26th, 3:00 – 6:30 PM, followed by dinner
at the Alumni Room, O'Malley Library, Manhattan College
Come celebrate the opening of the Tibbetts Estuary Tapestry, connect with the community, share your thoughts, and envision the next steps of the Rescuing Tibbetts Brook Initiative
The Community Gathering will feature talks and workshops led by artists, community members, experts, and activists, a performance by Kamala Sankaram, and a presentation of artworks about Tibbetts Brook, commissioned by CALL//City as Living Laboratory.
Rescuing Tibbetts Brook is a constellation of artist and designer-led initiatives in the Bronx conducted by CALL. Since 2016, CALL has worked with community members and artists to complement the efforts of local activists to address Tibbetts Brook’s daylighting and related environmental challenges and opportunities.
Please join us to:
Celebrate and share the current Rescuing Tibbetts Brook projects from artists, scientists/experts, and local stakeholders.
View and learn more about the Tibbetts Estuary Tapestry, The Buried Brook, Visions of Tibbetts Brook, and Daylighting Waters/Grounding Voices.
Discuss goals and strategies for stewardship and activation.
CALL has been guided by an Advisory Committee that includes Robert Fanuzzi, Jacki Fischer, Gabriel de Guzman, Sharon Lungrin, Christina Taylor, and CALL Board members: Charles McKinney, Buck Moorhead, and Zachary Youngerman. Special thanks to Dart Westphal, Manhattan College.
CALL acknowledges the pivotal support of the NYC Mayor, the NYC Parks, NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and the hard work of community activists, most notably the Bronx Council for Environmental Quality (BCEQ) and Van Cortlandt Park Alliance, making possible daylighting of Tibbetts Brook become a reality
