CALL CONNECTS - February 2025
Exciting news: we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve received a grant from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs’ FY2025 Cultural Development Fund (CDF)! Art and culture are the heart and soul of New York, contributing to a safer, stronger, more vibrant city.
We’re proud to be among 1,078 organizations receiving over $59 million through the CDF - the largest-ever city allocation for the program, thanks to the partnership between the NYC Mayor’s Office and the City Council.
With this investment in our work, we can bring our programs to members of our community. This CDF grant will support our Cloudburst and Tibbetts Brook programs

Community Resiliency Workshop | Exploring Waterways, Flooding, & Cloudburst Infrastructure @ Corona Queens Public Library
City as Living Laboratory (CALL) and New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) are supporting NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to envision a network of site activations and long-term engagement around water, infrastructure, and resiliency through collaborations with artists, scientists, and community in Corona, Queens. This work supports efforts already underway by NYC DEP to implement Cloudburst resilient infrastructure for flood mitigation in the Corona neighborhood.
On Thursday, January 30th, CALL was joined by Corona community members at the Queens Public Library at Corona for an interactive workshop where participants shared their rain, flooding, and water stories. This workshop will inform the development of artists/scientists-led community programs regarding cloudbursts in Corona.
This program supports the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Cloudburst Program. We extend our thanks to the Queens Museum, Familias Unidas, and the Corona Queens Public Library for helping make this program possible!
