An illustration imagining how the bridges could call attention to Tibbetts Brook.

Mary Miss & Steward Pickett will be leading a CALL/WALK over one of the bridges that cross both the proposed daylighting route for Tibbetts Brook and the Major Deegan Expressway. Learn more about the progress of a campaign to take the fresh water of Tibbetts out of the sewer system and into a new streambed. What are the potential advantages for the ecosystem? What are the roadblocks to progress? How can the community become even more engaged in advocating for and envisioning the future of Tibbetts Brook?

This walk will launch Rescuing Tibbetts Brook: One Stitch at a Time, CALL's initiative, led by Miss, in the Bronx. This initiative proposes using the bridges as an infrastructure-scale means of calling attention to local ecology and the environmental and social issues surrounding the future of Tibbetts Brook, as part of a constellation of community-engaged efforts to support larger efforts to restore the brook and reduce flooding and combined sewer overflows in the area.
